3 ways to make 2025 the Greatest YEAR of your LIFE
Lets look at three things you must do differently next year..
Good Morning Team.
Its been some time since I sent one of these and for good reason. I’ve been resting, doing interesting projects and preparing for the new year. Since I last sent you an update, I’ve been in New York, speaking at The United Nations (more on that later), a business trip to Miami, family time in Dallas, meetings in Houston, back to New York and then I just got back yesterday for a 7-day trip in Mexico Cancun. It’s been busy, however a good busy. I couldn’t let the year go by without sending you some key things to think about as we cross over into a near year.
As the clock strikes midnight and we step into 2025, it’s tempting to think of 2025 year as a fresh slate, a golden opportunity to chase bigger dreams and set bold goals. But let’s be real—2024 was a long year, it was probably the hardest year of my life so far. For some, it felt like an uphill battle, and for others, a marathon of relentless responsibilities. Regardless of where you’re coming from, here’s the good news: 2025 doesn’t have to be a repeat. This year can be the best one yet, but only if you approach it with intention. The secret? Not just setting goals, but building frameworks that ensure you succeed even when life gets messy. Here are three transformative strategies to make 2025 unforgettable.
1. Build Systems That Work When You Don’t
Goals are exciting, but systems are where the magic happens. Think of your goals as the destination and your systems as the GPS that keeps you on track, even when you’re tired, distracted, or overwhelmed. Research from behavioral science shows that habits, not willpower, are the strongest predictors of long-term success.
Take Serena Williams, for example. She doesn’t wake up every day deciding whether to train—it’s baked into her system. Her routines, schedules, and team create a structure where excellence becomes inevitable. The same can be true for you. Want to save more money this year? Automate your savings. Trying to stay fit? Schedule workouts as non-negotiable calendar appointments. Write down every goal you have for 2025, then ask yourself: “What system will get me there?” Remember, when motivation fades—and it will—you’ll fall to the level of your systems.
2. Plan for Fatigue Before It Arrives
Let’s face it: there will be days when you don’t feel like showing up. This is normal, and it doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means you’re human. The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t often comes down to how they plan for moments of fatigue.
Picture this: you’re three weeks into a new workout routine, and suddenly, work deadlines pile up, or you catch a cold. Do you have a plan for that? Build what I call “fatigue buffers”—small, realistic actions you can fall back on when life gets overwhelming. Instead of skipping your workout entirely, commit to a 10-minute walk. Instead of abandoning your healthy eating plan, keep easy, nutritious meals on hand. Studies on decision fatigue reveal that our ability to make good choices diminishes throughout the day, so frontload your hardest tasks in the morning and simplify decision-making wherever possible. Fatigue is inevitable, but failure doesn’t have to be.
3. Embrace Accountability Outside Yourself
Accountability is a game-changer, and yet, so many people rely solely on their internal drive. Why? Because it feels safer not to tell anyone about your goals—you don’t risk the embarrassment of falling short. But the truth is, external accountability increases your chances of success dramatically. Do one thing for me right now, take a look at your phone and find someone that can be your accountability partner for the year.
Consider the story of a woman who wanted to run her first marathon. Instead of training alone, she joined a running club and shared her goal with her friends. Knowing they’d ask about her progress kept her consistent, even when she didn’t feel like lacing up her shoes. Whether it’s a friend, mentor, coach, or community, find someone who will hold you to your promises. Better yet, make it reciprocal—help them stay on track too. Apps like Strava for fitness or accountability groups for other goals can also provide a public layer of accountability. There’s power in knowing someone is rooting for you, but also checking in on you.
In 2025, let’s do more than dream about a better life—let’s build one. By creating systems that keep you grounded, preparing for the moments when motivation wavers, and surrounding yourself with people who keep you accountable, you’ll be setting yourself up for a 2025 that doesn’t just meet your expectations but exceeds them. Let’s make it the best year yet—together.
