Good Morning,
This short excerpt is about you taking some personal time this period to reflect and evaluate your goals this year. Many don’t spend time evaluating and so repeat back patterns or fail to catch a trend so they can put a stop to it. This is your reminder to evaluate.
As the year draws to a close, the clamour of festivities often drowns out a quieter, yet crucial, activity—reflecting on the past year. If you have been subscribed to
for a while then you know, evaluating the highs and lows of the year gone by is not just a mere ritual we do here but a potent catalyst for transformative growth.Taking stock of your achievements, setbacks, and the overall trajectory of your personal journey offers invaluable insights. It's a chance to celebrate victories, no matter how small, and to acknowledge the lessons embedded in challenges. The act of evaluation acts as a compass, guiding you towards intentional self-improvement in the coming year.
One of the primary benefits of a year-end assessment lies in its ability to provide clarity. By scrutinizing your accomplishments, you gain a profound understanding of what worked well and why. Equally, examining the setbacks equips you with the wisdom to avoid pitfalls in the future. This self-awareness becomes the cornerstone for setting realistic, meaningful goals in the approaching year.
Moreover, the evaluation process allows for the identification of patterns—both positive and negative. Are there habits that consistently contributed to your success? Are there behaviours that impede your progress? These patterns serve as beacons, directing you towards reinforcing positive habits and mitigating detrimental ones. The power to shape your future lies in the ability to discern these recurring themes.
A year-end evaluation also fosters gratitude—a key element in personal development. Gratitude for the lessons learned, the people who influenced your journey, and the opportunities that came your way. This mindset shift from focusing on what went wrong to appreciating what went right cultivates a positive outlook, a foundation for resilience in the face of challenges. I recently held a men’s dinner for some of the guys I mentor on the theme of gratidue.
I want you to make time to take stock. Evaluating your year isn't a one-time task; it's a cyclical process of growth. Each year offers a fresh canvas, and by assessing the past, you wield the brush to paint a more intentional, fulfilling future. So, as the calendar turns, take the time to reflect, revise, and, ultimately, rise into the best version of yourself in the year ahead.

This debate with George Farmer and Allie Beth Stuckey
I’m no fan of Candance Ownes, however, this debate on her channel was so fascinating. It’s the first time in w long time I heard a long-form positive defence of Catholicism and it was pretty interesting. I disagree with George but it was edifying to hear his arguments. Anyone interested in faith might find this interesting.
Thank you for reading this and for subscribing,
