How My Year Is Going So Far
Good Morning team!
I speak often about rest because I have learned about its importance, however, it’s something I still wrestle with. I don’t rest enough and it seems in this hype work-focused city and country, none of rest enough.
Ask yourself these simple questions and explore where it takes you. What is your life optimised for? Namely, what is a life built around? Productivity? Family? Friends? The answer to these questions will hopefully reveal to you the kind of life you are building and will give you a chance to make any changes that will help you focus on the path you ought to be on. I’ve been reflecting.
Good First Quarter
The aim of this digital community is to share my thoughts with a community to I’ve been reflecting on during the first quarter of the year. The first 3 months.
We are opening a new office
We are employing someone full time for Common Sense
I made a massive update to our site at Common Sense
We had confirmation of around £90,000 worth of work for one of the organisations I’m CEO of.
I failed to rest enough
Because I started my year in February, I was trying to cram 3 months’ worth of work into two months. That created a lot of stress for me in March.
I also took time in Q1 to reflect on the last few years! I made a post on social media about it but here it is
Growing up, one of my biggest worries was that I would not live up to the hype. I was very fortunate growing up. So many prophetic words, so much encouragement from my parents about who I would become. It was often hard living under the weight of that expectation. I remember being worried I had peaked too early when I became a Member of the Youth Parliament and a U.K. Young Ambassador to the European Union at 17. It led to a very toxic relationship with achievement. Noting really meant anything to me. Just wanted the next achievement and the next high
I had no contentment and was always on the lookout for the next big gig. I would never take stock of how far I’d come and when I entered rooms I would often feel like the smallest person in there.
Yesterday I was at The Conduit reflecting on that 17-year-old Mike and it hit me, the importance of celebrating where you are as well as salivating about where you want to be. In a few years, I’ve
🔘 Discovered my life mission which is to bed the levers of power toward justice
🔘 Spoken on the United Nations world stage twice
🔘 Raised over £300,000 for organisations and passions I really care about
🔘 Directly trained over 6000 people in personal development
🔘 Built three thriving impact delivering business and charities
🔘 Joined organisations where I oversee the stewardship of millions of pounds and great power.
🔘 Met some lifelong friends and members of my extended family
Of course, I’ve done none of these things alone. There is a mighty team behind me. I’m super excited for the future but also give me time
Off To Belgium?
To this end, as you are reading this, I’m on my way to Belgium for a three-day break. The aim is to eat waffles and relax some more. I will return in the middle of the week and will let you know some of the exciting things I have coming up in the next few weeks. It’s going to be a good one.
