Reflecting and Planning: Lessons Learned in 2024
Life has a funny way of circling back, reminding us of lessons we thought we’d mastered but somehow forgot.
Good Morning everyone,
As we approach the end of 2024, it’s a natural time to pause and reflect on what the year has taught us. Life has a funny way of circling back, reminding us of lessons we thought we’d mastered but somehow forgot. For me, this year has been full of moments where I had to relearn things I thought I already knew—lessons about balance, consistency, and being intentional. This year was in many ways a ground 0 year for me
It’s humbling, isn’t it? Just when you think you’ve “got it,” life throws a curveball, and suddenly you’re back to square one, navigating familiar terrain but with fresh eyes.
Lessons Worth Relearning
One of the most profound truths I’ve rediscovered this year is that the best lessons are often the ones we have to relearn. Whether it’s about managing time, prioritizing rest, or even the simple act of getting outside, life has a way of nudging us back to what we know to be good for us. But here’s the thing: learning these lessons again isn’t failure—it’s growth.
Reflecting on 2024, I’ve been cataloguing some of the key takeaways I want to carry forward into 2025. These are the small, personal reminders that have kept me grounded, and I hope they resonate with you too:
Being outside is a gift. Whr
the sun is shining or the rain is pouring, fresh air has been a tonic for my soul. Even a short walk can reset my perspective and remind me of the bigger picture.
Exercise always helps. No matter how tired, stressed, or overwhelmed I feel, I’ve never regretted moving my body. It’s not about performance—it’s about showing up.
Writing brings clarity. There’s something transformative about putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). When I write down my thoughts, tasks, or prayers, the chaos in my mind settles into order.
Double-checking is underrated. Let’s just say that leaving my house unlocked for five days while on vacation was a lesson I won’t soon forget. Sometimes it’s the little things that need the most attention!
What Lessons Has 2024 Taught You?
As I share these reflections, I’d love to hear from you. What has this year taught you? What are the lessons that keep cropping up in your life?
Maybe it’s a reminder to slow down. Or perhaps you’ve learned to speak up more, to say “yes” less, or to embrace the messiness of growth. Whatever it is, your lessons matter. Take a moment to think about them, write them down, and let’s use this space to reflect and share together.
Planning for 2025
Reflection is only part of the equation. The other part is action—taking what we’ve learned and using it to shape the future. As I look ahead to 2025, I’m asking myself some big questions:
• What habits and practices will I take with me into the new year?
• Where do I need to set better boundaries or reframe my priorities?
• How can I make sure I’m living with intention and purpose, rather than reacting to life as it comes?
The answers to these questions aren’t always obvious, but the process of asking them is valuable. It’s a way of starting the year with clarity and focus, instead of drifting into January with the same old patterns.
A Challenge for All of Us
As we wrap up 2024, I want to encourage you to do two things:
1. Reflect on your year. Take some time to think about what went well, what didn’t, and what lessons you’ve learned along the way. Write them down, share them with a friend, or simply meditate on them during a quiet moment.
2. Start planning for the year ahead. Think about the habits, routines, and mindsets you want to cultivate in 2025. Don’t aim for perfection—aim for progress.
One of the greatest gifts of being part of this community is that we don’t have to do this alone. We’re here to support one another, to learn from each other’s insights, and to cheer each other on as we step into what’s next.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your engagement, feedback, and shared experiences have been such a source of encouragement throughout the year. I’m excited about what 2025 holds and grateful to walk this road with all of you.
Here’s to finishing strong and starting fresh.
Warmly,
M.T. Omoniyi
P.S. If you have a moment, reply and share one lesson you’ve learned this year—I’d love to hear it!
